Advising Appointments

Advising is a great way for current and prospective students to learn about different majors, navigating through the major, jobs and internships, and grad school opportunities. We have dedicated faculty, staff, and peer advisors available for both current and prospective students in our majors--Environmental Policy Analysis & Planning (EPAP) and Environmental Science & Management (ESM)—and our minors—EPAP and Climate Science & Policy (CSAP). 

Which advisor should I see?

Staff advisors are your first stop for advising and can help you navigate the major and plan your classes, as well as offer general advice about the major.

Faculty master advisors are a great resource for help with picking a track if you're not sure, they can help with questions about grad school or careers after graduation, and could even help you find the right alternate major if you're not sure your current major is right for you.

Peer advisors are current juniors or seniors who can provide an inside perspective on the major and the classes that are part of the major.

Environmental Policy Analysis & Planning

Melissa Whaley is the staff advisor for the EPAP major. She is your first stop for all major and minor related questions. Melissa is located in 2134 Wickson Hall and and is available remotely until further notice. Appointments can be by zoom or phone. Lili Girodie is the peer advisor for EPAP. Lili is a senior in the EPAP major, City & Regional Planning track. Lili's office hours for the 2020-2021 academic year are TBD. Lili will be joining us as peer advisor in fall quarter. Lili is located in 2136 Wickson Hall and can be reached by email during the regular academic year at epapadvising@ucdavis.edu.

Prof. Gwen Arnold is the master advisor. She is located in 2144 Wickson Hall and is available by appointment. If you would like to set up an appointment with Prof. Arnold, please email Prof. Arnold at gbarnold@ucdavis.edu to set up a time; include “EPAP Advising Appointment” in the subject line.

Environmental Science & Management

The ESM major is jointly coordinated by the Department of Environmental Science & Policy (ESP) and the Department of Land, Air, & Water Resources (LAWR). Advising for the major is split by last name. ESP coordinates advising for students with last names starting with A-L and LAWR coordinates advising for students with last names starting with M-Z.

Anna Remstedt is the peer advisor for ESM. Anna is a senior in the ESM major, Ecology, Biodiversity, and Conservation track. Anna's office hours for summer 2020 are 10-11am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please email her for an appointment. She is currently available remotely and can be reached by email at esmadvising@ucdavis.edu.

Prof. Marissa Baskett is the master advisor. Professor Baskett is located in 2004 Wickson Hall. Her office hours for summer 2020 are by appointment only. If you would like to set up an appointment with Prof. Baskett please email her at mlbaskett@ucdavis.edu with "ESM Advising Appointment Needed" in the subject line.

Advising in LAWR

Lacole Brooks is the staff advisor. She is located in 1150 Plant & Environmental Sciences (PES) and is available by appointment only. You can make an appointment online. You can also reach her by email at lbrooks@ucdavis.edu or by phone at 530-752-1603.

The peer advisor for 2019-2020 is TBD. You can reach them during the regular academic year. Their office is in 1139 PES.

Prof. Terry Nathan is the master advisor. He is available by appointment only. You can book an appointment by emailing him at trnathan@ucdavis.edu.

Climate Science & Policy
