Distinguished Professor Daniel Sperling was among 111 newly elected members to the National Academy of Engineering for leadership and outstanding entrepreneurial contributions in transportation energy, advancing alternative energy policies and promoting government-industry-university collaborations.

The founding director of the Institute of Transportation Studies and of the Policy Institute for Energy, Environment, and Economy will be formally inducted during the NAE's annual meeting in October.
